I joined the lab the Macklis lab as a postdoctoral fellow in Fall 2018. I use novel sequencing strategies to understand multiple aspects of RNA biology in cortical neurons and growth cones. In particular, I study 1.) regulation of axonal growth by local protein synthesis in growth cones and 2.) dysfunctional RNA processing in corticospinal neurons in mouse models of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Prior to joining the Macklis lab, I received my Ph.D. from Harvard University in Genetics and Genomics in 2019, under the supervision of Dr. Jeannie T. Lee at MGH. My doctoral research examined the higher order structure of the X-chromosome and its impact on X-chromosome inactivation. I graduated with a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Northwestern University in 2011, and I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. In my free time, I enjoy exploring restaurants, museums and running near bodies of water.
